Dublin's river Liffey

Ballsbridge area of Dublin, Ireland

Ballsbridge is a quaint little suburb in Dublin, Ireland that is fast becoming a popular place to visit for tourists planning trips to Ireland. Although referred to as Ballsbridge, the town was originally called Ball's Bridge, named after a bridge built on the River Dodder by Mr. Ball. Visitors to the town will be able to see this bridge still standing along with its name board that announces to all that it is indeed “Ball's Bridge."

The region is also known as Droichead na Dothra in the Irish language and stands on border of Donnybrook. Visitors to the area will be delighted with the parks in the Ballsbridge areaneighbourhood such as Herbert Park and its quaint streets which include both Ailesbury Road and Shrewsbury Road as mentioned in the popular Irish version of Monopoly. These two streets are interesting places to visit and create the impression that you are in a Monopoly game.

Ballsbridge is also the seat for several important organisations like the RDS and the IRFU which has its Lansdowne Road headquarters located in this region. You will also find foreign embassies and Dublin’s diplomatic systems in place here. The locals number several important people and rich businesspeople that come to stay here amidst tree lined streets and historic houses, many of which have large grounds and gardens.

Ballsbridge is a great place to visit and looks very different from the rest of Dublin, despite being well connected to the city centre.
