The Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival, launched in 1957, is the oldest of European specialist theatre festivals. So far, the festival has shown the works of widely acclaimed Irish artists such as James Cromwell, Murphy, Brian Friel, Roddy Doyle, Enda Walsh and others and international artists such as Neve Campbell, Geoffrey Rush, James Cromwell and others. This year, the Dublin Theatre Festival will be held from September 30th to October 17th.
This internationally acclaimed theatre festival presents a wide range of plays from home as well as abroad at venues located all over Dublin. For instance, premier theatre shows,
works of young directors and award-winning plays are featured in the Abbey Theatre and the Gate Theatre. Some of the highlights of the festival include the works of women directors, award-winning plays from German playwrights and “Came So Far For Beauty,” a tribute to the renowned poet-composer Leonard Cohen.
The festival, which attracts thousands of people associated with theatre, also features demonstration, workshops, lectures, artist-development programs, film screenings and symposiums.
Since the various venues of the festival are all top-notch hotels and restaurants, they are easy to access. Since the festival is associated with a number of luxury hotels in Dublin, visitors can get luxury accommodation at irresistible discounts. The festival also collaborates with a number of restaurants so that guests can enjoy the best of Irish cuisine.
