The Dublin Writers Festival takes place every year in the month of June and it is Ireland’s best celebration of literary arts and showcases talent from across Ireland and the world. The festival began in 1998, and from the onset, has continued to be one of the most famous writer’s festivals around the world.
The Annual Dublin Writers’ Festival features some of the best works in non-fiction, fiction and poetry, and takes place in a host of different locations across Dublin. In the past, writers like Roddy Doyly, Rageh Omaar, Iain Sinclair and John Waters have all graced this event with their presence. The purpose of this event is to bring the finer details of
writing and the joy of reading to the general audience through various media. The festival now attracts readers and writers from far and wide to take part in readings, discussions, writing and seminars.
Every year, the festival has a different theme with previous themes including a celebration of the “Power of the Word”. During this festival, world famous authors including Melvyn Bragg, Julie Myerson, William Fiennes and even Booker prize winner Colm Tóibín can be seen at the event, at different venues like the:
