There are a number of Cinemas across Dublin and this includes Art Cinemas, Multiplex and IMAX - with something for everyone, whether your preference runs to watching movies in a modern multiplex or if you like the more traditional single screen cinemas.
Art Movies - IFC (Irish Film Centre, Eusrace Street, Dublin)
For Art and World cinema movies in Dublin, the IFC (Irish Film Centre) based on 6 Eustace Street (right in the heart of Temple Bar) is an excellent venue. The latest artistic and world films are shown here.
Multiplexes
The most popular multiplexes in Dublin are:
- Cineworld
- Ster Century
- UCI Cinemas
- and the IMC Dun Loghaire.
Cineworld is easily the largest cinema in Dublin’s city centre. It is located on Parnell Street and its attractions include a bar and an arcade where visitors can go to unwind.
The Ster Cinema is located in suburban Dublin at the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre and is one of the most recent additions to Dublin’s exciting movie culture. It has 14 screens with top-notch seating infrastructure. The IMC Dun Loghaire is another multiplex cinema with three screens and three floors with high quality sound technology and is located in the Southside of Dublin. UCI Cinemas are the main cinema chain in and around the republic of Ireland. They have three cinemas located in the Southside, Westside and North of Dublin.
Single Screen
For people who prefer single screen cinemas and old world charm, Dublin has the Screen and the Stella cinemas. The Screen is one of the oldest cinemas and hosts both classic and unique movies which are rarely screened at the regular multiplexes. The Stella Cinema is located in Rathmines, 2 kilometres south of the city and is one of the oldest cinemas in the city.
